Walloon model for children born as from 2020
The new model applies to children born as from 1 January 2020 and residing in Wallonia.
Children born before that date remain in the old system and therefore also benefit the 'old' amounts until they finish their studies or until they turn 25.
The new Walloon child benefit system in figures:
Do you have children that were born on or after the 1st of January 2020? These children are entitled to the amounts of the new Walloon child benefit system. But what does the total amount of your child benefit consist of?
Indexation?
The amounts of the Walloon child benefits are linked to the Belgian health index. When the health index is exceeded, the social benefits rise accordingly. This means that the amounts of the Walloon child benefits follow the increase. This index was last exceeded in November 2022. The amounts mentioned here are therefore the amounts paid since December 2022 (paid beginning of January 2023).
The law stipulates that your child benefit must be on your account at the latest on the 8th calendar day of the following month. Would you like to know the exact dates? Take a look at our page with payment dates.
